Projects: Senior Cost Controller
|Maersk Oil Qatar is looking to appoint a Senior Cost Controller for a major project in Qatar. The Senior Cost Controller will interact with all parts of the Integrated Project Team (IPT) and other stakeholders to establish Project Cost Control as an integral part of Project Delivery on a Major Capital Project. You will report to the Lead Cost Engineer within the Project Controls Team based in Doha and will deliver all cost controlling activities on the project, including monitoring, compiling, performance analyzing, forecasting and reporting costs.|

|As the Senior Cost Controller you will be reporting to the Lead Cost Engineer within the Project Controls Team. Your key responsibilities will be comprised of a wide range of cost control related activities on the FDP2014 project and will cover budgeting and cost phasing, monitoring, compiling data, forecasting, performance analysis and cost reporting. You will be expected to maintain control of cost commitments and expenditures throughout the project and to ensure that the project complies with corporate standards and procedures, as well as project specific procedures and guidelines as they pertain to project cost control.|
The Project Finance Lead will be one of your key stakeholders for alignment of the project cost management and cost accounting processes.
The project will implement a cost management software application to be used across the project and you are therefore expected to maintain, update and validate cost information within the system, and with the MO Finance system SAP.
The project will have a number of cost controllers in Contractor offices and work sites, and you will assume responsibility for the functional support to those cost controllers and occasionally support them in their location for short periods as required.
You will be expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the integrated project team to ensure cost information is as accurate as possible. You will also be required to ensure an effective working relationship with MOQ Business Unit.
During the execution of your responsibilities you will be expected to always comply with Maersk Oil Incident Free philosophy, company Core Values and all standards and procedures as they apply to the project.
|Who we are looking for|
|You will likely have a Bachelor Degree from a nationally accredited university within, business management or equivalent and a cost control certificate from an internationally recognized awarding body such as AACEI or similar.|
Further you will be able to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a similar role within major Oil & Gas projects where you have been exposed to the complexities of multi geographical execution strategies.
Candidates with previous Maersk Oil experience in a Senior Cost Controller position are preferred.
You will be able to provide examples from your knowledge and experience in the follow areas:
• Compiling, analyzing and reporting on cost figures;
• Applying accepted industry best practice to cost control processes;
• Liaising closely with the project cost accounting to align accounting and cost management processes;
• Cost Breakdown Structures, cost accounts and effective techniques of cost follow up;
• Using software applications within cost management other than Excel to support cost control processes;
• Project change handling and implementation.
• Earned value principles and linkage to schedule.
This role will require you to be a self-starter and have a proactive, results-oriented focus; and willingness and capability to assume additional responsibilities. You will also be expected to be able to commit to stringent deadlines and put in extra effort in times of high activity.
In order to success in this role strong interpersonal skills and your ability to interact effectively and work with people at all levels in the organization will be critical.
