The Maersk Oil Research & Technology Centre (MO-RTC) is Maersk Oil’s first global research and technology centre tasked with developing cutting-edge applications for the Al Shaheen field while supporting Qatar’s 2030 Vision of a knowledge-based future. The $100 million USD centre, dubbed the MO-RTC, is located at the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), which is supported by other industrial majors including oil companies. The MO-RTC will focus on research that will create practical and applicable solutions to clearly-defined problems in oil and gas production. The MO-RTC will divide its work into four streams – developing applications for its renowned long horizontal wells to improve oil recovery, defining and investigating new Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods, Providing Digital Rock Physics technical expertise and researching Qatar’s marine ecosystem to help reduce Maersk Oil’s environmental footprint.
