|Maersk Oil Angola AS (Maersk Oil), part of the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, has been active in Angola since 2005. Maersk Oil declared the block 16 Chissonga development commercial in 2011.Work is ongoing to bring the Chissonga development to sanction through both the Luanda office and the project office in Houston, USA. |
We are looking for the right candidate to head the Finance and Business Services Function in Maersk Oil Angola, Luanda Branch. The candidate will report to the General Manager of Maersk Oil Angola. In addition the position has a functional reporting link to the Chief Financial Officer of Maersk Oil and will be part of the global finance management team.
The Head of FBS is responsible for Finance, IT, Business Planning, Business Performance Management and Procurement/logistic.
The overall responsibility is to provide leadership and accountability to Maersk Oil Angola senior management team on all aspects of financial control; financial management; planning; management and external reporting; taxation; IT and data management, other additional matters, and input to the management team on general business matters in pursuit of the company’s goals and objectives. This also includes growing National work force capabilities and driving Angolisation process within area of responsibility.
In addition the Head of FBS will be seen as a critical part of the Maersk Oil Angola management team and will act as a true business partner and sounding board to the Managing Director, Angola. He/she will contribute heavily to the strategic business agenda and business planning and will work in close collaboration with the Group Finance team in Copenhagen. This role is not solely an internally focused position as the Head of FBS will be expected to engage in external relations where appropriate, including developing excellent integration and alignment with the project office in Houston, and positive stakeholder relationship with the chissonga development partners.

|•Lead, develop and engage the functional teams in scope|
•Ensure provision of Finance and Business service support to the Chissonga project, currently managed out of our Houston office.
•Pro-actively support the business to optimize financial implications of strategic and operational decisions (business partnering)
•Generally ensure that the Finance and Administrative function efficiently and effectively creates value to the organization.
•Mitigate and manage risk and financial exposures.
•Close liaison with the local authorities
•Provide MT level accountability for the provision of services at a level which is consistent with the agreed business needs, aligned with corporate policies; and on a value for money basis.
•Ensure the company appropriately plans its current and future activities such that these can be reasonably represented in plans, budgets and forecasts to aid the proactive development of the business in pursuit of the company’s goals, objectives and performance management.
•Build strong relationship with the headquarter organisation and ensure alignment with global processes and procedures.
•Build strong relationships with the project office in Houston
•Observance and compliance with the laws, rules and regulations in force issued any governmental authorities.
•Ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial information to Country and Head Quarter management as well as partners and authorities.
•Ensuring that necessary internal control procedures are in place and adhered to.
•Analysis/interpretation of financial performance vs. budget/targets; ensuring proper follow-up and that corrective action is taken where needed or relevant parties are alerted that the action is required.
|Who we are looking for|
|This is a highly attractive opportunity for a senior, global finance executive to consolidate his / her career. Graduate with a relevant post-graduate qualification, likely to be a Qualified Accountant.|
•At least 15 – 20 year’s post qualification experience, which will include extensive upstream experience.
•Experience of driving a change agenda or significant change projects.
•The candidate is expected to bring strong functional leadership and people development skills and take overall responsibility for strengthening the quality in delivery and effectiveness in performance within the function.
•The candidate must have demonstrated integration and teamwork skills and evidence of strong stakeholder engagement
•Direct experience of working in a business/operation.
•Financial/ Economical Degree and previous financial management experience.
•Industry experience will be an advantage.
•Procurement experience desirable
•Strong analytical skills.
•Excellent verbal/ written communication skills and the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization as well as with external partners.
•Languages: English, Portuguese speaking would be an advantage or must be prepared to learn.
