Maersk Oil Qatar is looking to appoint a Project Controls Engineer for a major project in Qatar, with the position being based in a FEED Contractor’s Office (CO). The Project Controls Engineer will interact with the FEED delivery team in all aspects of cost and schedule control as well as document controls and project administration. You will report to the Delivery Manager (WHP) and have a functional reporting line to the Project Controls Manager (PO) based in Doha.

Key Responsibilities
As the Project Controls Engineer you will be reporting to the Delivery Manager on a day-to-day in the FEED Contractor’s Office and have a functional line to the Project Controls Manager based in Doha.
Your key responsibilities will be comprised of a wide range of activities connected to project controls including cost and schedule control, document controls and project administration. You will be expected to ensure the Delivery Manager and Project Discipline Engineers have a clear view on the progression of deliverables throughout the contract. You will provide recommendations for corrective action in case of identified concerns connected to cost, schedule and document controls.
You will further ensure that the project has a robust procedure and methodology for verifying Contractor’s progress on an ongoing basis and for addressing areas of concern.
You will be responsible for ensuring alignment between project resources in case of multiple execution offices throughout the FEED Contract, and will be expected to support the implementation of applicable processes and procedures in those offices.
The project will implement a cost management software application to be used across the project and you are therefore expected to maintain, update and validate cost information within the system as it pertains to the FEED Contract and in alignment with the project controls team based in Doha.

You will be expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Delivery Team and Contractor’s team to ensure information is as accurate as possible in respect of project controls.
During the execution of your responsibilities you will be expected to always comply with Maersk Oil Incident Free philosophy, company Core Values and all standards and procedures as they apply to the project.
Who we are looking for
You will likely have a Bachelor Degree from a nationally accredited university within engineering, business management or equivalent. You are also likely to hold certificates by an internationally recognized awarding body such as AACEI or similar for cost and an internationally recognized awarding body for planning such as PMI or similar.
You will be able to demonstrate 8 years’ of experience in a similar role within major Oil & Gas projects with a minimum of 3 years project controls experience in a site capacity during the FEED stage.
You will be able to provide examples from your knowledge and experience in the follow areas:
• Compiling, analyzing and reporting on cost and schedule information;
• Applying accepted industry best practice and project procedures to project controls activities;
• Analyzing schedules and costs to provide recommended corrective actions;
• Cost Breakdown Structures, cost accounts and effective techniques of cost and schedule follow up;
• Using software applications within cost management other than Excel to support cost control processes;
• Project change handling and implementation;
• Earned value principles and linkage to schedule;
• Driving constructive dialogue with Contractors in respect of work progress.
This role will require you to be a self-starter and have a proactive, results-oriented focus while working autonomously. Your willingness and capability to assume additional responsibilities, commitment to delivering to stringent deadlines and putting in extra effort in times of high activity will be important
