Maersk Oil is looking for a Senior (Lead) Safety Engineer for our Danish Business Unit, Esbjerg office to perform the role of discipline Technical Authority. In the position you will mainly work with technical safety. The position is a permanent staff position.
The Esbjerg Offices constitute the main office for all Maersk Oil production activities in the Danish sector of the North Sea where Maersk Oil currently operates 52 platforms. Approximately 550 onshore employees are on a daily basis working in the offices. The working environment is international, engaging and characterized by highly skilled and motivated employees.

As Senior/Lead Safety Engineer your work primarily takes place at our offices in Esbjerg where you will be part of the Facilities and Projects department consisting of more than 100 dedicated and highly competent persons.

Key Responsibilities
Main tasks would be:
  • Technical authority for safety engineering related issues.
  • Perform safety assurance activities on assets and projects.
  • As part of a competent team being a driving force in the continuous strive to be world class within technical safety/risk assessment and related areas.
  • Lead and manage risk assessments, HAZID, EE&R, FME(C)A, Bow-tie’s, SIL/LOPA, ALARP demonstrations and other HIRA tasks
  • Evaluate major risks, workplace risks and occupational risks
  • Coordinate fire and explosion risk including physical effects modelling and firefighting.
  • Coordinate gas and smoke dispersion including combustion products.
  • Collect and evaluate statistical material
  • Have a clear understanding and ability to handle Safety Critical Elements issues
  • Provide guidance and advice to senior production managers regarding continued operation with partially impaired equipment.
  • Manage external studies and consultants

An important key word for the position is Technical Excellence and the ability, on a fact based background, to provide recommendation on a variety of challenges as those faced by a mature operator.

Each installation is covered by a “Case for Safety” which must be kept in accordance with legislation issued by the Danish Working Environment Authority (DWEA).

Co-operation with production, well service and maintenance departments attached to each asset as well as.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a candidate with a Master degree with a minimum of 15 years experience in the oil & gas or related industries. You take interest in multi-discipline tasks and have a strong focus on technical disciplines. Detailed knowledge of all engineering disciplines is preferred.

You are analytical, disciplined and a positive communicator with an open and extrovert mind set. Furthermore, you must be able to work independently, proactively and be task-/result-oriented, often with a tight schedule and therefore with the right sense of urgency.

As working in teams is a key feature you should be at ease interacting with other people and preferably be skilled in presentation and representation, within and outside the organisation.

Proficiency in verbal and written English is a pre-requisite.
