Reporting to the Managing Director of Singapore/Philippines/Malaysia (SPM), this position is a key member of the SPM area leadership team. This position has functional responsibility of SPM’s finance teams based in the 3 countries.
Key Responsibilities
• Area owner of Damco’s financial data and data quality
• Understand the business strategy and provide relevant insight into business performance
• Responsible to ensure compliance with tax, vat regulations/changes
• Provide financial leadership in determining strategic business direction and align finance strategies
• Oversee and ensure completion of budgeting process
• Oversee and complete book closing processes, and ensure that the reporting is aligned with SPM GAAP, IFRS and legal requirements
• Risk management
• Manage shared service centre processes and resources.
• Drive and improve financial performance forecasting
• Provide high quality financial forecasting and budgeting, to maintain predictability for Damco SPM
• Demonstrate and able to drive high finance performance through local and virtual/offshore teams
• Act in the decision making process through the provision of risk-adjusted financial information and analysis
• Ensure compliance to finance regulations
• Visible collaboration and one team mind-set (cross border and within)
• Develop and strengthen the finance organization to become a world-class organization
• Accountable for the implementation- of and adherence to local legislation and internal compliance policies, requirements and procedures
• Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of facilitation payments and ensuring same are actively opposed, mitigated and over time, eliminated in close cooperation with operations, procurement and commercial

Business Partnering
• Support area strategy execution
• Annual Operating Plan and forecasting, including target setting for Products and Functions
• Management reporting at Area level, variance explanations and related actions plans
• Prepare and review business cases for capex and leases etc.
• Drive cost containment initiatives at Area level

Working Capital
• Responsible for working capital optimizing and for driving down AR and AP overdue balances to minimum
• Maintain data infrastructure for AR and AP reporting and work with respective business stakeholders to ensure highest possible data quality
• Enforce credit and dunning procedures at Area level, consistent with global credit policy

Controlling/Business Analysis
• Responsible for FACT/ERP trial balance(s) and associated financial statements, both for statutory and Group reporting
• Sign-off on account reconciliations
• Ensuring compliance with IFRS and APM GAP, clean external audits
• Coordinate and sign-off of local statutory accounts
• Sign-off on HFM reporting to level 4 on behalf of Area and HFM books
• Improving cross functional links to eliminate challenges in financial control dashboards
• Review product and customer profitability analysis to assist the business
• Trend and performance analysis, root cause investigation at Area level
• Responsible for statutory corporate governance within the Area
• Responsible for sign-off of local tax filings, support third party in local tax execution
• Ad-hoc projects as directed by the Area Manager and Regional Office

Business Process
• Ensure compliance with mandatory processes
• Manage Area relationship with GSC

  • Lead and manage area finance organizations for Singapore/Philippines/Malaysia area
  • Coach and give guidance to finance managers in the countries
  • Build, maintain and develop a strong/sustainable finance team for area through country finance managers
  • Resource planning for area finance organization and best practice sharing/process standardization across area

Who we are looking for
• Bachelor (or higher) degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 8 years of working experience within finance with at least 3 years of leadership experience
• Abe to identify financial data trends and provide recommendations cross functionally and to area manager on how to take advantage of same
• Able to develop understanding, create insight and drive action for operations, commercial and area manager
• Able to structure, conduct and facilitate analytical problem solving
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent demand of English
