The Senior Layout and Piping Engineer has a key role in the Facilities Engineering Team for our development projects, and will focus on the Layout and Piping Engineering aspects of all equipment /packages and process and utilities piping for all facilities topsides (Greenfield) and shall also be responsible for the quality, technical assurance and timely delivery of the Piping Engineering and Layout deliverables during the Select/Define/Execute stages for Well Head, Process, Utility and Accommodation Platforms plus the Brownfield Tie-ins (including the Subsea Pipeline Tie-ins to topside facilities, Process systems, Piping Tie-ins and Utility Systems Piping Tie-ins). The Senior Layout and Piping Engineer shall also be responsible for the Piping input to the ITT Packages for FEED, and detailed EPC/EPIC and procurement activities from a technical, quality and assurance perspective. It is a requirement of this role to be both proactive and hands-on, whilst also taking a leadership role in supporting the Integrated Project Teams (IPT) objectives across Concept, FEED and EPC/EPIC scopes of work. The Senior Layout and Piping Engineer shall hold a commensurate amount of responsibility, within the defined decision space and direction from the Lead Piping and Layout Engineer, and will play a critical role in driving the execution of the work. The Senior Layout and Piping Engineer shall also be the primary FEED/Site-based, technical reference for Piping Engineering and Piping and Equipment Layout related issues during the Design, construction, installation and commissioning phases, and shall play a key role in providing technical support to the contractor[s].

Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the transition from the concept selection phase to FEED and beyond, including directly assisting set up and on-going management of the project Layout and Piping Engineering team;
• Responsible for the detail of Piping Engineering and Piping and Equipment Layout input to the tender processes for Layout and Piping Engineering FEED and EPIC activities, including integration with existing assets;
• Provision of technical direction, innovation and excellence through all project phases from concept select through to start up;
• Assisting in setting direction, creating and executing work plans, and managing resources for the Layout and Piping Engineering scope;
• Representing Maersk Oil and the project to stakeholders at Contractor satellite locations;
• Guiding other Layout and Piping Engineers and Designers in their planning and performance of Layout and Piping design technical work by using established and assigned technical tasks in a format (deliverable) mutually agreed between the Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager (PEM), Delivery Managers (DM), and Project Quality Manager (PQM);
• Driving the Layout and Piping Engineer Engineering FEED team to successful execution of all Layout and Piping engineering activities, including:
o Assists Layout and Piping Design Engineers in planning and performing work, including identifying pre-requisite tasks or information needs;
o Ensures the Layout and Piping Design Engineers update and report the progress of deliverables on a regular basis, to the PEM, DM, PQM, and the head of Project Planning and Scheduling.
o Reviews, endorses, and provides input into proposed refinements / changes and updates to specifications and standards
o In some cases, he will lead the updates to design specifications and standards relevant to Piping Engineering and Layout discipline the are approved using Project’s endorsed MoC procedures, responsible for retaining Layout and Piping related change proposals for future inclusion into the associated specifications and guidelines;
o Ensures that all relevant aspects of the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs and procedures are strictly followed in the performance of all work;
o Ensures the integration of the requirements of the Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) in all work, tasks or deliverables;
o Follows and implements the established project objectives and strategies in all work, which includes maintaining production at established levels as well as providing safe, economic, and efficient proposals to enhance hydrocarbon recovery or to increase associated facility integrity;
o Participates in assessments where appropriate;
Who we are looking for
• Minimum B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience within offshore oil and gas industry; in Layout and Piping engineering, and at least 5 years demonstrable success in a Senior engineer role;
• Possess a safety oriented mind-set and have prior experience in environments where Incident Free operations are treated with utmost priority;
• Have strong knowledge of the fundamentals of the Layout and Piping Engineering of offshore wellhead, process, utility and accommodation system including the design, installation, constructability, interface and system integration issues;
• The candidate’s expertise shall include a detailed working knowledge of the development of the overall topsides layout of process and utilities pipework, pipe racks and pipe bridges, large packaged equipment, pig launchers and pig receivers with due regard to access for operability, maintenance and emergency access and egress;
• Have strong capability in budget and schedule estimation for the Layout and Piping Engineering discipline for both Greenfield and Brownfield developments;
• Have demonstrable experience in the completion of ITT’s, FEED, and EPIC’s on a significant number of major Offshore Greenfield Facilities Topsides contracts >$1,000MM;
• Have proven exposure to the operational aspect of the industry, including production of operating and start up philosophies / procedures and provision of technical support through construction, hook up, commissioning and start up project phases;
• Possess a sound understanding and knowledge of current and predicted future versions of applicable codes, standards and design guidelines (Offshore Middle East and Europe/UK);
• Have a strong understanding of FEED and EPC/EPIC contracts through the different stages; design, procurement, fabrication, installation and testing, and integration into existing systems;
• Have a good understanding of the latest technology advances in offshore Layout and Piping engineering applications;
• Possess a sound understanding and knowledge of current versions of applicable codes, standards and design guidelines relevant to Layout and Piping systems;
• Have demonstrated experience at a responsible level in multidiscipline design reviews (layout reviews, 3D model reviews, HAZOPs, etc.), including 3rd party verification and certification;
• Be a team player showing individual initiative, responsibility and integrity, and a high level of decision making with their allocated decision space;
• Have excellent teamwork skills and be able to work with various stakeholders to resolve issues and reach decisions that are in the best interests of delivering development projects;
• Can implement and manage kick-off meetings, shop inspections and site testing relating to Layout and Piping systems and equipment;
• Experience in engineering management at Senior discipline engineer, senior project engineer or study manager level and previous exposure to stage gate project delivery would be considered an advantage;
• Have extensive use and knowledge of PDS (Plant Design System), PDMS (Plant Design Management System) and/or Smart Plant 3D, in the execution of major Offshore Greenfield and Brownfield Facilities Topsides contracts >$1,000MM
• Have extensive experience of the utilisation of laser scanning techniques along with the related modelling based on cloud points data and 3D modelling tools;
• Have extensive experience of offshore detailed dimensional surveys of Piping plus confirmatory dimensional surveys of fabricated piping spools in the fabrication yard
• Have excellent knowledge and experience in specific processes or in constructability strategies such as modularisation;
