Maersk Oil Qatar is currently developing and expanding the facilities in the Al Shaheen Field offshore Qatar. Due to this expansion we require a Well Technologist for The Drilling & Well Engineering team which is part of the Drilling department with responsibility for the Drilling Engineers, Stimulation Operations, Well and Completion Engineering, specifying technical requirements to well equipment, technology innovation and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
•Primary technical expert for Conductors, HP/LP Risers and Casing accessories
•Ensuring planning, scheduling and ordering of equipment.
•Stock management of well equipment, surface as well as subsurface for use in drilling and workover operations.
•Ensure in-place analysis for conductors are performed. Liaise with the Structure & Pipeline department.
•Perform Torque & Drag analysis (WellPlan), to support operations and for new technology innovation and implementation.
•Perform acid stimulation operations of long horizontal carbonate wells, incl. design and optimisation of both procedures and equipment
•Responsible for tubing corrosion assessments and follow-up.
•Stay in close contact with the Petroleum Engineers in the Subsurface Departments on all well completion and stimulation issues, in order perform effectively.
•Ensure that all documentation and information prepared and/or obtained in the course of work is handled in strict confidence.
Who we are looking for
  • We are looking for individuals with 2 - 6 years of relevant experience as Drilling Engineer, Well Technologist or Well Equipment Engineer.
  • An Individual with a degree at BSc or MSc level in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
•Fluent in English – written and spoken.
•An effective team player.
•Self-motivated, ability to work independently and strong desire to learn and develop personal capabilities.
•Experienced in defining well equipment requirements such as OCTG, Conductors, Casing accessories, HP/LP risers etc.
•Experienced with drilling engineering and well engineering software suite from Landmark. Experience with Casing Design, Torque & Drag simulations.
•Skilled user of MS Excel.
•An ability to read drawings and specifications relating to well equipment. Ability to write specifications and formulate reports on various aspects of well equipment and procedures.
•Ability to think innovatively and develop new ideas into technical solutions.
