We Offer
A unique opportunity in our Operations department in which our Maintenance discipline area resides. In Maersk Oil, we believe in our matrix organisation where three assets constitute the ground pillars in our matrix organisation overlaid by discipline areas, hereunder Maintenance. The maintenance discipline area consists of five passionate and dedicated team members and the position as Inspection Lead is a part of this team.

The position we offer is an onshore position in our new modern offices in Esbjerg. Occasional offshore visits shall be expected as well as minor travel activity can be expected. The position is not a managerial position and there will be no direct reports reporting to you.

Key Responsibilities
As Inspection Lead, your tasks will be multifaceted. The role includes implementation and hands on legislative requirements pertaining to inspection activities on our offshore installations. Safety performance is on top of our agenda, and a part of your work will be to strive for an increased level of safety, both living it in action but also through development of procedures and frameworks within the inspection area. As Inspection Lead, another key responsibility will be to support and be an active part of the inspection community within Maersk Oil, both in the Danish Business Unit as well as with our international Maersk Oil Business Units. A major part of the role is also to set the direction for inspection activities within Maersk Oil and to formalise this work in procedures to be used by our offshore personnel in the front line. Risk Based Assessments and Risk Based Inspection is a focus area for even further development and a part of the position will be to drive risk based assessments and risk based inspections to the next level.

This Inspection Lead role is a highly independent role in the discipline area, and your ability to make decisions and drive performance will be valued.

One of your key tasks will be to conduct risk based assessments and establish and update maintenance programmes. This entails evaluating the inspection findings as well as giving your recommendations on the best way to proceed.

Some of the tasks in the role as Inspection Lead are

  • Contribute to our safety performance, both through active behaviour as well as embedding safety in deliveries (documents, procedures etc.)
  • Acquaint yourself with legislation and ensure legislative requirements are met at all times
  • Drive risk based assessments and risk based inspection of pressure vessels and pipework
  • Be familiar with paint degradation and prescribe solutions to avoid unacceptable deterioration of our facilities
  • Report to and collaborate with verification body regarding repairs
  • Continuously update procedures to address continuous improvement within the area of inspection
  • Have a network with vendors
Who we are looking for
In this position, it is important that you possess a strong personal drive and are comfortable making decisions as you will need to take charge and solve issues and ad hoc problems quickly. As such, you thrive working independently and you take a systematic and structured approach to problem solving without comprising safety, integrity & reliability.

At the same time, you are a team player with good communication and networking skills.
More specifically, you

  • Should have 10+ years of experience, preferably a combination of on-the-site experience as well as an analytical approach
  • Hold an BSc or MSc in chemical engineering, Inspection Engineering, metallurgy or similar relevant educational background. A documented carrier path with other relevant experience will also be acceptable
  • Have extensive work experience within inspection
  • Have strong analytical skills as well as IT flair, enabling you to easily learn new specialist programmes
  • Speak and write Danish and English and be able to write reports and recommendations in Danish and English
  • Must be able to travel offshore on a regular basis
