Maersk Oil Qatar is currently developing and expanding the facilities in the Al Shaheen Field offshore Qatar. Due to this expansion a Wellbore Positioning Specialist is required.

The candidate will work in a hi-paced operational environment with 4 to 5 rigs operating in one of MOG’s most challenging and promising developments worldwide. The position is considered process safety critical, and the right candidate will be able to develop rapidly holding the responsibility of the field surveying and anti-collision strategies.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure, from a collision avoidance perspective, that wells are planned and drilled in accordance with the Maersk Oil Wellbore Positioning Standard.
Advise drilling engineers on appropriate survey programmes such that the well’s positioning objectives are met and that surveys are validated.
Monitor survey data quality as the well is drilled. Question and challenge directional survey providers on the validity of their data quality and corrections.
Maintain an auditable trail of all technical detail pertaining to a well’s profile from target definition to final definitive survey.
Maintain and update Maersk Oil Qatar’s directional database.
Perform regular checks to ensure that no unauthorised changes have occurred in the database and ensure that the directional drilling company maintains an identical independent database using its software.
Who we are looking for
The suitable candidate will have knowledge and experience of collision avoidance procedures, survey management and on the theory and operation of magnetic and gyro survey tools would be useful.
Degree in mathematics, science or engineering
A candidate with a good understanding of the principles of operation of all directional survey tools and be aware of their advantages and limitations.
Through contact with experts in other operators/service companies, keep up-to-date with the development of new tools, techniques and evolving best practices in the industry.
