The Doha Office is currently preparing for the next stage of the development of the Al Shaheen field with the expectation of drilling up to 50 additional wells over the next three years, an investment of approximately a billion dollars.

While in the FDP Implementation team you will be responsible for the geoscience aspects of well planning, well execution and documentation for a significant number of development and appraisal wells, working within a multidisciplinary team including geologists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, production technologists and drilling engineers. Interaction with the asset teams and FDP planning teams is key to promote knowledge sharing and allow the efficient development of the field.

Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Geologist to work in a Field Development Planning team within Maersk Oil Qatar.

While in the FDP12 Subsurface team you will be responsible for coordinating the Geoscience aspects of well planning, well execution and documentation for a significant number of development and appraisal wells. You will be responsible for a small team of geoscientists including staff and contractors and will have significant input into how the team functions. The right candidate will take a formal leadership role with up to 4 direct reports.

The Geoscience team operates within a larger multidisciplinary team including geologists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers, production technologists and drilling engineers. Interaction with the PED Qatar asset teams and CPD Qatar teams is key to promote knowledge sharing and allow the efficient development of the field.

• Responsible for the overall Geoscience input to the well planning for upcoming wells
• Operational responsibility while drilling, including;
• Geosteering, vertical placement within thin carbonate reservoirs
• Geological input to completion decisions
• Reporting, both internal and to Partners
• Integrate new data from ongoing development into the geologic understanding of the reservoirs
• Mentoring Junior staff
• Lead the geoscience contribution from the team and support operational decision making
• Provide support/cover to the Implementation Team leader during operations

Who we are looking for
A candidate with an MSC or higher degree in Geology.

A minimum of 8 years of industry experience.

Strong operational experience, preferably in extended reach horizontal wells.

Understanding of 3D geomodelling preferably in Petrel.

Experience with carbonate reservoirs preferred.

Extensive Geosteering experience is required

Strong analytical/communication skills.
