As the Lead Developer you will be recognised as an expert in a specific technical area, coaching your colleagues and external consultants on complex development projects. You are regarded as the definitive source of knowledge, technique, or expertise for the subject. You will need to keep aware of industry changes and trends, new developments and techniques and how they can be introduced into Maersk Line
You will gain substantial experience and knowledge in commercial / business operations, application of problem-solving expertise and opportunities in leading change on a global scope.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement in coding practices and code quality
• Contribute to the project design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software and should be able to clearly articulate the implications of design/architectural decisions
• Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers
• Estimate development work effort for a development team or review and verify estimates and identify high risk development areas
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practice guidelines
• Drive a quality mind set within the team and manage quality of vendor code
• Translate subject matter terminology into business terms, and recommending alternatives to both senior management and software developers; communicating expert knowledge effectively to diverse audiences

We are looking for candidates with a proven track record who fulfil the following requirements:

• 8+ years’ experience in application design and implementation, distributed architecture and concepts, data manipulation and analysis using PL/SQL or SQL, and familiar with Object Oriented concepts and design
• Ability to create scalable, service-oriented and n-tier systems
• Experience developing in Java and automating testing using JUnit, QUnit, Selenium, Cucumber or similar tools
• Familiar with web technologies: HTTP, Web Services – REST and SOAP and WEB service testing e.g. SoapUI
• Experience with web development frameworks, e.g. Spring
• Experience with static code analysis, e.g. SonarQube or similar
• Experience with service virtualization, e.g. IBM Rational Test Virtualisation or similar
• Experience with Javascript, JQuery and other client side web development
• Familiar with setup and configuration of database server and web server configurations
• Understanding of network protocols and issues with load balanced applications
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Understanding of working with Active Directory, DMZ’s and Firewalls
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and change priorities as needed
• Experience coaching and mentoring junior software engineers
• Experience managing an off-shored development pipeline
